Libya government calls for prosecution of Haftar internationally as a war criminal

The Libyan Foreign Ministry said Saturday it does not understand the inability of the United Nations Security Council to take an action regarding Khalifa Haftar's crimes against civilians and public facilities in the country. In a letter addressed to the Security Council, Libya's Foreign Minister, Mohamed Sayala, explained that Haftar's forces committed crimes against humanity by bombing civilians in Zawiya and Tajoura two days ago. He also addressed the ICC Prosecutor in a separate letter noting that Haftar and his forces have added new crimes to their previous war crimes by bombing the Institute of Applied Engineering near the Zawiya refinery. The Libyan Minister called for investigations of these crimes that amount to crimes against humanity, and to punish the perpetrators, and hold them accountable before the international court.
