The Ras Jedir border crossing between Libya and Tunisia will be officially reopened on June 20, after more than three months of closure for security reasons. This should ensure greater safety and protection for Libyan and Tunisian citizens who cross the border. The agreement also includes a commitment to open six centers for the electronic registration of Libyan citizens' cars, not to impose unarranged taxes or fines, to control port terminals and against the carrying of weapons. Last March, Imad Trabelsi had ordered the closure of the land border point with Tunisia and the withdrawal of the staff stationed at the crossing "to preserve human lives and public property". The decision was taken after the Berber militias of the Libyan city of Zuwara had rejected a column of vehicles sent from Tripoli to take control of the border point.
