Al-Lafi said the commission will consist of a chairman and six members, as well as subcommittees tasked with meeting citizens on the ground. "Selecting the members of the Reconciliation Commission will be very important to its success," al-Lafi was quoted by Egypt Today as saying. Libya has been torn by civil war since the toppling and killing of dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. the two sides signed a truce, setting in motion a UN-led process that saw a new transitional government installed in February. The new executive is charged with organising national elections set for December 2021.
