Libya: Former Ambassador to Italy Sentenced to Ten Years


The Tripoli Criminal Court has issued a conviction against the former head of the Libyan diplomatic mission in Italy, Omar Tarhuni. Libya's Attorney General's Office said the court had examined the charges against the former diplomat, finding him guilty of abuse of power and obtaining illicit gains while in office. During the hearings, the Court assessed the evidence gathered that the former head of mission had used his position for personal gain, accumulating wealth illegally.
