The Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-general in Libya, Stephanie Williams, held the second virtual meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum on Jan. 6, during which many proposals related to the mechanism for selecting members were reviewed, in addition to the nomination procedures for the body were discussed by the members of the committee. On Jan. 3, members of the Libyan Dialogue Forum called on the United Nations Security Council to prevent all forms of foreign armed presence and expel mercenaries and foreign bases from Libya. Since the downfall of Kadhafi, Libya also has become a key route for irregular migration from Africa into Europe, across the Mediterranean Sea.
