Mustafa Sanalla, the veteran head of Libya’s state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC), has been sacked by the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity (GNU). The Tripoli-based GNU has been agitating for Sanalla’s removal for some years but, until now, it has never been able to follow through due to the support for the long-serving NOC chairman had from Libya’s opposing legislative bodies, as well as foreign powers such as the US.
