MONROVIA – The President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Mustapha I. Raji, has called on the Liberian Government to guarantee financial backing for local clubs that qualify for international competitions. “We need a guarantee that when our club team qualifies for international competition, government should make available US$200,000 for their participation,” Raji stated. Yes, I believe it can happen,” he said, adding that many of the players representing local clubs also form the core of the national team setup. Raji further broadened his appeal, urging the national government to commit a minimum of US$1 million annually toward football development in Liberia. The call if heeded, could significantly boost Liberia’s competitiveness on the continental stage while strengthening grassroots and elite football structures nationwide.
