A New Pathway for Local TalentThe initiative will see one player selected from each county that participated in the recently concluded National County Sports Meet Liberia’s premier sporting event. Officials say the decision aims to correct years of imbalance where established league players dominated a tournament originally intended for grassroots discovery. “For years, young players in the rural counties have been overshadowed by league players brought in just for the tournament,” one ministry insider told FrontPage Africa. Combined with the new County Meet restrictions, the Boakai administration appears to be signaling a shift away from “trophy hunting” toward long-term talent building.
