President Trump and Republicans in Congress are trying mightily to achieve tax reform this winter, proposing a combination of tax simplification, base broadening, and tax cuts. However, instead of constructively trying to improve the tax reform legislation, Democrats in Congress and liberals in general, including in the media, seem more interesting in demonizing tax reform. One way they are doing this is to claim that tax reform will hurt the poor. This paternalism has reached a new low in liberal opposition to tax reform. So, I say, let's have an honest debate about tax reform.
