The Liberal Democrats were forced to suspend a London mayoral candidate last night after footage emerged of her urging Muslim voters not to back a Jewish candidate. While a Conservative general election candidate in Blackburn in 1997, Geeta Sidhu Robb was filmed saying: “Don’t vote for a Jew, Jack Straw is a Jew.”She had been shortlisted to take on Sadiq Khan for the Lib Dems in next year’s mayoral election but was suspended by the party last night. Ms Sidhu Robb, a millionaire businesswoman, raw food chef and “juice diet” entrepreneur, said she deeply regretted her “appalling behaviour”.
