Leyte quake kills two and injures 72


The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has recorded two fatalities in the wake of the earthquake that struck Leyte on Thursday. A state of calamity has been declared in Kananga, Leyte. Aside from Leyte, lack of electricity also grips large areas in Bohol, Cebu and Samar . The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) is set to send a team to Leyte to inspect visible cracks in the province, particularly in the mountains. The Office of Civil Defense says, Ormoc City and Kananga sustained the most serious damage from the magnitude 6.5 tremor.
