The financial assistance offered to struggling mortgage holders by the banks during this pandemic crisis should be subjected to more rigorous scrutiny. Such mortgage holders, who may be unemployed, might be disinclined to scrutinise the relevant terms and conditions as a consequence of their stressful situation. Some may, in fact, be inclined to approach unauthorised financial sharks who are extremely ruthless and intimidating. It is the duty of our Minister for Finance to ensure that meaningful assistance is afforded to mortgage holders during this pandemic crisis.
