Unfortunately, the commentators pushing this line are not being explicit about what living with this virus means in practical terms. It does not mean relaxing containment measures and almost deliberately infecting people in the guise of living with the virus. Finally, we must also consider the fact that this ‘vulnerable’ population contains the vast majority of Kenyans in leadership and in decision-making positions. Decommissioning them would have perhaps as great an effect on the economy as the most stringent containment measures are claimed to have. Let us learn to truly “live with this virus” by maintaining measures to control its spread and keep the daily numbers low for as long as we can!
