While many towns would probably love to ride on the coat-tails of such a blockbuster, success has come at a price for the village - they are being completely overrun by tourists. Each of these tourists looking for the perfect Instagram moment is putting a massive strain on the village's infrastructure. It's claimed that Hallstatt now has six times more tourists per capita than Venice, another location swamped by day-trippers. But the limitation on space means tourists are encroaching onto every aspect of life. A cafe owner admitted to The Times: "My mum woke up one day and found some Chinese tourists in her bedroom."
