Let them eat cake: café expansion goes down a treat


Patisserie Valerie’s expansion this year has helped to boost its owner’s profits by 17 per cent. Patisserie Holdings, which also owns the Druckers, Philpotts and Flour Power café chains, opened 20 new stores in the past year and aims to open a further 20. It reports pre-tax profits of £20.2 million in the year to September 30, up from £17.2 million. Group revenues rose by 9.7 per cent, from £104.1 million to £114.2 million. Patisserie Valerie contributed the lion’s share of sales, with £84.4 million.
