Supporters of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno decried alleged efforts to adjust the law to allow her removal from office without the constitutionally-mandated impeachment process. “The rule of law, not of man, must prevail. Yielding to those in power, and not to the law, is not right,” the group said in a statement on Friday. The group said the law “must be predictable” and lamented the law’s alleged distortion to cater to “the whims of those in power.”“The law must be predictable. Using the law for the whims of those in power is not right,” the group said.
