Let’s start from the very beginning… Integral ecologyEver tried starting to read a book in the middle? Likewise, when the Holy Father Pope Francis introduced Laudato Si’, he too took the bull by the horns and set the ground by introducing integral ecology as the basis of his teaching on the environment and Caring for Our Common Home. The first four words are Laudato Si’, mi Signore – “Praise be to you, my Lord”, taken from Canticle of St Francis of Assisi. Pope Benedict also pointed out the link between Genesis and St John’s testimony, “In the beginning was the Word” – Logos, meaning reason. So, any surprise then why this column is titled “In the Beginning” and we’re starting from the very beginning?
