Let’s accept China’s hand of friendshipIN the busyness and confusion of the election period, the public forgot to take notice of the exposè in this space of the human trafficking syndicate that is using the country’s airports as entry and exit points. The human trafficking syndicate, composed of senior immigration officers and their alleged protector, former Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre, was supposedly earning — at the height of its unhampered operations — a hefty sum of P50 million a day! Only this newspaper, The Manila Times, was helping me in unmasking the syndicate’s activities and leaders by publishing the exposé. If that means extending the hand of friendship first, that’s fine by the Chinese. Let’s decide on our own destiny as a nation, and not be dependent on a former colonial master.
