At seven years old, my mom handed me my first Pocahontas diary and I haven’t stopped writing since then. At the age of 20, I published my first article for this same newspaper and at 26, I had my own column. My mom taught me how to pray and is the first one to remind me that no matter how hard things are, God will always come through. My mom knew when to keep pressing forward while my dad knew when to remain steady. It was her audacity, her determination, and her spirit that brought our family to where it is today.
