KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry confirmed this evening that they have detected leptospirosis in three of the 12 victims with respiratory infection symptoms. Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said: “We are still investigating the source of contamination. We are still conducting more tests before we can issue a statement,” he told theNew Straits Times yesterday. He said the incident, which resulted in the death of the man on Feb 5, was an isolated respiratory tract infection cluster. “The pneumonia cluster infection is being closely monitored by the ministry with the cooperation of the health departments in Kelantan and Selangor,” he said in a statement yesterday.
