Leinster income falls by €500,000 in 2019

A Leinster hurling final replay in 2018 had inflated gate receipts but its absence in 2019 told as gates declined by over €200,000. Hurling championship games generated more revenue for the province for the second successive year thanks to the increased number of games, 11 including the final, as a result of a new round robin format. Hurling games generated €2,329,931, some €210,000 more than 11 football games (including Kildare/Longford replay). Despite falling revenues Leinster still managed to increase their coaching and games development grants to counties significantly, jumping from €5,597,857 to €5,836,621, a difference of €238,764. In his report, Leinster CEO Michael Reynolds said there was much more to provincial councils than just organising senior championships.
