Bob Gibson, a Hall of Fame pitcher who played his entire career with the St. Louis Cardinals died Friday. Gibson died after a battle with pancreatic cancer while under hospice care in Omaha, Neb., according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Gibson set a record with 17 strikeouts in Game 1 of the 1968 World Series against the Detroit Tigers. “They stop prizefights to avoid this kind of brutality.”Gibson earned 84% of the vote to get into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981. The baseball world mourned the loss of Lou Brock in September.
