Now the people of Washington will vote on a new measure designed to roll back the old ban. The ballot measure is called Referendum 88 and codifies the Legislature’s bill. If a majority votes no on the referendum, the attempt to restore racial preferences fails. We’d all be spared this back and forth on racial preferences if the Supreme Court would come down definitively against them instead of giving hazy guidelines.
