Legalising euthanasia not a priority for Labour, says Andrew LittleDavid White/FAIRFAX NZ Former Labour MP and pro-euthanasia campaigner Maryan Street says she has talked to Labour leader Andrew Little about the issue many times. The Labour Party is supporting an inquiry into the euthanasia debate, but it's not a priority. Labour leader Andrew Little said other issues such as homelessness, employment and healthcare that would be put before a euthanasia campaign. The bill was put forward by former Labour MP Maryan Street, now president of the Voluntary Euthanasia Society. The euthanasia debate was reignited last year when Wellington lawyer Lecretia Seales​ was refused by the High Court the right to have a doctor help end her life.
