The 85-year-old Dadasaheb Phalke awardee, who had been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Kolkata's Belle Vue Clinic Hospital for almost 40 days, died after a prolonged battle with multiple ailments. Meanwhile, megastar Amitabh Bachchan also took to his Twitter account and shared a tribute for Soumitra Chatterjee. The Dadasaheb Phalke recipient thespian's demise was confirmed by a bulletin from Kolkata's Belle Vue Hospital, where he had received COVID treatment.
