more-inA Central Committee member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist Leninist) Red Star (CPI-ML [Red Star]) along with a leader of the Mazdoor Kisan Parishad (MKP) has been arrested in connection with the agitation in Bhangar. The CPI-ML [Red Star] has been at the forefront of the agitation in South 24 Paraganas district against the setting up of a power grid in the area. A Central Committee member of the party, Sankar Das, and a leader of the MKP, Kushal Debnath, were arrested on Tuesday afternoon. In January, two more leaders of the party -- Central Committee member Sarmistha Chowdhury and State secretary Pradeep Singh Thakur -- were arrested by the CID. After resurfacing in Delhi within a couple of days, he said that the police put him on a Delhi-bound train.
