Leese Guidi. International opera singer and former Dunedin resident Anna Leese Guidi is to move back to Dunedin early next month, after learning her Italian husband Stefano has a terminal illness. The couple and their young son Matteo are moving back to the city to be nearer family and support networks. Earlier this year Mr Guidi was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of motor neurone disease — amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Mrs Leese Guidi and son Matteo were expected to arrive in Dunedin on December 4, and Mr Guidi and a friend would arrive a few days later, after driving the family car down from Warkworth, she said.
