Crewe Alexandra manager Lee Bell says it would be "ideal" if he could strengthen the squad this month while a number of key players continue their returns to full fitness. The Alex are without the likes of Conor Thomas, Jack Lankester, Omar Bogle and top-scorer Emre Tezgel. Midfielder Thomas is reportedly "very close" to being available after a calf injury but the rest are some weeks away. "We are a good team, we're as good as anybody," Bell told BBC Radio Stoke. "It would be ideal if we could do something in January, if we could try to help with the squad and strengthen it."
