While the shows were very different, both definitely fell in the arena rock category. “Arena Rock” was an actual genre that was born in the mid-Seventies when acts like Blue Oyster Cult, Aerosmith, Kiss, Boston, Alice Cooper, Foreigner, Queen and the biggest of them, Led Zeppelin, began bringing these huge productions and massive riffs to tens of thousands of fans. It was a brilliant arena rock show, rich with hits, that showed the Chili stand alongside the Foo Fighters and Green Day as the best contemporary arena rock bands. Watching both shows got me thinking about the best arena rock acts of all time, those acts who set the gold standard for the genre. 8) AC/DC – For pure spectacle, few acts can touch the Australian hard rockers.
