From tear gas to television, Craig Hoyle has had quite the ride since leaving the Exclusive Brethren sect 10 years ago. The expectation was that you would buy a house, marry a Brethren girl, settle down and raise a Brethren family, and the cycle would rinse and repeat. In April 2009, finally ready to make my move, I called a meeting with the priests and told them I was leaving the Exclusive Brethren. Sarah Hall was a veteran TV3 journalist, although to me, fresh out of the Exclusive Brethren in November 2009, that meant nothing. I left Hong Kong on October 31 last year, the 10-year anniversary of my final excommunication from the Exclusive Brethren.
