Leave politics out of our mountains, Sabah guides told - Nation

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic) has backed the suspension of three mountain guides who unfurled a Parti Warisan Sabah flag on the slopes of Mount Kinabalu. The Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister dismissed claims that the punishment was harsh, and said that they should not have brought politics into their workplace. He pointed out that Sabah Parks had said that the guides would have been suspended even if they had unfurled a party flag from the ruling government. “Their act was wrong as they did it when they were carrying their duties as mountain guides. “They must respect their own profession,” he told reporters after opening the Sabah Tourist Guides Association office in Lintas Square here Monday.
