Learner drivers left waiting months for tests after Tory instructor vow fails

It means the pandemic tests backlog goes on leaving many learners waiting months. And it’s been worsened by applications this year from people who could not take a test in 2020 because of lockdowns. Figures obtained by the Liberal Democrats show the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency have recruited only 74 of a target figure of 300 so far. A recent report revealed some learners are having to apply at test centres 100 miles away – while others face delays of five months or more to book a test.
