He jettisoned Patrick Marleau and his $6.25-million cap hit (all dollars U.S.) to Carolina, then re-signed depth defenceman Martin Marincin and goalie Michael Hutchinson at the NHL minimum of $700,000 for maximum wiggle room. Ceci is a restricted free agent who has been mulling over a $4.3-million qualifying offer from the Senators. That could leave the Leafs thin on the blue line, though, with Jake Gardiner and Ron Hainsey heading for unrestricted free agency on Monday.
