Winnipeg defenceman Jacob Trouba has asked the Jets for a trade, claiming he's too far down the depth chart of the team's right-shooting defencemen. It sounds fishy given that Trouba was third on the entire Winnipeg team in ice time (22:03 per game) last season. Whatever the reason, Trouba is willing to stay home, at least for now. That said, the Jets aren’t the Lightning and, unlike Drouin, Trouba isn’t under contract. Moreover, that hardnosed approach won’t help Winnipeg get back to the post-season after finishing 25th last year.
