Leadsom said she would pass legislation to protect EU citizens but also attempt to secure side deals based on the withdrawal agreement to keep goods moving, a suggestion the EU’s chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, has explicitly ruled out. She said she believed “the withdrawal agreement is dead, that we can’t reopen the withdrawal agreement bill and the UK parliament won’t vote for it”. Leadsom, speaking on the BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show after an interview in the Sun, insisted her plan was not no deal but a “managed exit”. Facebook Twitter Pinterest Sajid Javid said he would not ignore parliament if it insisted on a further Brexit extension. In a letter to MPs, he said “a no-deal Brexit is not a policy choice available to the next prime minister”.
