Leaders from Kisumu County have described the late Luo Council of Elders Willis Otondi as a peace ambassador and a man who helped the Luo community build bridges with other regions in the Country. According to Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o, besides being a family patriarch, Ker Otondi was a peace ambassador. Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron noted that the Luo nation and country has lost a strong and virtuous elder. Oron said Otiondi was a visionary leader who held the Luo community together all these years. "Otondi not once or twice helped build bridges between the Luo community and other tribes but has been there all along to ensure that peace prevails across."
