MANILA, Philippines — Fresh from her Tony Awards attendance and speech in New York two days ago, internationally acclaimed Filipina singer-actress Lea Salonga announced today that she will star in the HBO Max remake of hit TV series “Pretty Little Liars.”In the reboot, titled “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” Salonga will portray Elodie, mom of Minnie (Malia Pyles). Described as “overbearing,” Elodie works overtime to keep Minnie safe as Minnie battles a trauma that happened when she was little. In the dark, coming-of-age, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe — in a brand-new town, with a new generation of Little Liars,” Deadline wrote as a description of the reboot. Written by Aguirre-Sacasa and Calhoon Bring based on the bestselling books by Sara Shepard, “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” is set in the present day and will showcase a new story and new characters from its 2010 to 2017 series starring another Filipina like Lea, Shay Mitchell.
