The Hollywood Reporter is, uh, reporting that Lebron James and Ryan Coogler's Space Jam sequel is getting a different director. In short, Terence Nance is out and Malcolm D. Lee is in. It's no secret that I've had deeply mixed feelings about the very idea of making a sequel to Space Jam. But in today's marketplace, an explicit IP cash-in like Space Jam is essentially a god among gods. Come what may, Space Jam 2 opens courtesy of Warner Bros. on July 16, 2021.
