Most of them were previously involved with Jamaat’s student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir and later joined Hizb ut-Tahrir. A section of Jamaat-Shibir men had joined local militant groups including Hizb ut-Tahrir and were working in concert to build a greater network with a view to waging an armed jihad from Chittagong, police said. On August 1 last year, police arrested five leaders of banned outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team from the city’s Katgarh area.
