Lawyer Paul Mwangi has filed a petition in court against the government for lifting a ban on Genetically Modified Organisms. Mwangi further said the move to remove regulatory protocols on GMOs was unreasonable. "The hasty removal of all regulatory protocols in the cultivation and trade in genetically modified foods in Kenya is neither rational nor reasonable." He said this followed the recommendations of the Task Force formed to Review Matters Relating to Genetically Modified Foods and Food Safety. The lifting of the ban on GMO has been sharply criticised by a section of leaders and Kenyans citing adverse health effects.
