Lawmakers ask Tinubu to review police withdrawal directive


The National Assembly has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to reconsider his directive withdrawing police personnel from Very Important Persons, citing growing safety concerns among lawmakers. Tinubu had, in November, ordered the withdrawal of police officers assigned to VIPs across the country, directing that they be redeployed to perform core policing functions in communities nationwide. “So, on that note, we plead with the President for a review of the decision. He sought exemption for lawmakers from the enforcement, to avoid being used as scapegoats. He informed the senator and other affected members that efforts were being made to convince the Presidency to exempt lawmakers from the orderly withdrawal.
