Lawas rape case: Man charged with raping underage teenager three times


LAWAS: A 30-year-old man was charged in the magistrate’s court Wednesday with three counts of raping an underage teenager six months ago. Clad in an orange lock-up uniform, the man appeared calm when he was produced before magistrate Mohd Hafizi Abdul Halim this morning. He was charged with raping the victim, 14, three times at a hotel here between 3am and 6am in April this year. He also ordered the man to report himself to the Lawas police station once a week. They were charged under Section 372(1)(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 15 years’ jail and whipping and a fine upon conviction.
