A Canterbury University law lecturer says the university's reaction to a complaint of inappropriate conduct against him smacks of a paranoia caused by recent scandals. He had been invited to be part of a team of law students and during the evening had socialised with other students. He regarded one of the students as a friend and did not know the other but thought she was a law student. I like to drink but no-one has ever said I act in a sleazy, aggressive or inappropriate way," he said. Mazey said the university had received a formal complaint alleging inappropriate conduct of a staff member.
