Mat Latos and Casey Lawrence will get the call from Triple-A Buffalo in place of injured starters Aaron Sanchez and J.A. Happ for the Blue Jays’ road series against the Los Angeles Angels, starting Friday. Latos signed a minor-league deal in February and pitched for the Jays in Grapefruit League action. He was cut late in the spring and could have looked elsewhere for major-league work, but chose to accept a demotion to Buffalo and wait for another shot with the Jays. Lawrence, on the other hand, made his major-league debut this month — with two rocky innings of relief, allowing three runs on three hits and five walks.
