The development came as a consequence of the party’s nomination last week of Princess Ubolratana as its prime ministerial candidate. EC’s secretary-general Jarungvith Phumma, acting in his capacity as the registrar of political parties, represented the agency to bring the case to the Court on Wednesday. The case is expected to revolve around an assertion that involvement of royalty in politics violates Article 92 of the Political Party Law that prohibits any action against democratic rule and the constitutional monarchy.
