Politicians love leaking a change in strategy, typically from an anonymous source, to gauge public opinion before deciding whether it should become policy. And, judging by this week’s rumours — such as that test and trace is to be reined in and free lateral flow tests (LFTs) are to be restricted to groups including the NHS, social care and schools — the era of “living with Covid” is getting closer.
