VANCOUVER — Communities in the Interior have begun to experience flooding, just months after they survived the worst wildfire season in B.C. On Friday, the province announced that disaster financial assistance will be available to residents and business owners to help cover the costs of flooding. “We are well into the spring melt cycle, and all that snow has to go somewhere,” said Chris Duffy, executive director of Emergency Management B.C. They are also keeping an eye on rainfall, because “If you get an alignment of rainfall over snow melt, you’ve got some problems for sure.” Read more: Flood risk across B.C. “It is really unfortunate that Mother Nature would hit the same areas with fires and now floods,” she said.
