Mourners view the casket of George Floyd in Houston as several Democratic lawmakers kneel in silence for eight minutes and 46 seconds at the US Capitol. In Washington, Democratic lawmakers knelt in silent tribute to Floyd before unveiling a package of police reforms in response to the killing of unarmed black Americans by law enforcement. The 19-year veteran, who appeared by videolink from prison, faces up to 40 years if convicted on charges of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter. Three other policemen involved in Floyd's arrest appeared in court last week to face a charge of aiding and abetting his murder. Some US cities have already begun to embrace reforms, starting with bans on the use of tear gas and rubber bullets.
