Last-ditch attempt for south city residential development

Frustrated Invercargill developers have come close to aborting their plans to build 12 units in south city at a time when the community is crying out for more housing. As part of the appeal, Wright said they met with senior Invercargill City Council staff in February to see if they could reach agreement without going to court. "That's our last proposal, we aren't prepared to develop anything less than 11 units," Wright said when approached for comment Friday morning. "We have been fighting for 12 months to get this development off the ground, we have just had enough." In September, an Invercargill City Council hearing panel could not reach a decision when it met to hear the proposal for the 12-unit development.
