Last day of 2024 assessment protests at courthouse

Wednesday was the last day of the 2024 property valuation protest season, with the last 10 challengers getting the chance to state their case to the Board of Equalization at the Gage County Courthouse. County Clerk Dawn Hill said there were 140 protests filed, but not all of them were heard. According to Milligan, last year there were around 300 protests filed, "and that's out of 16,000 parcels in the county." "The market's getting way ahead of where we have things valued at," she said. Heading into Wednesday's final protests, Milligan said things have gone smoothly this year — "People have been kind of understanding it."
